Rhythmic Dance Battle: Dance Monkey
Recommended songs
Summary
In this lesson, students will work independently or in groups to learn rhythm patterns and movement sequences through guided video tutorials. They will perform the sequence together in class. The final rhythmic dance battle will be done with the upbeat and popular song 'Dance Monkey'.
The timing and pacing of the exercises in this lesson plan example are approximate and will differ depending on your students' skill level. If the pace of this lesson plan is too fast for you, divide it into several lessons or ask students to fully learn their parts before the lesson starts (as homework). This way you can devote the whole lesson to combine the teams together in one cohesive performance. Β If the pace of this lesson plan is too slow for you, explore the 'Beyond the lesson' chapter at the end of this lesson plan for additional activities.
